Whether you’re preparing for your first market or your fiftieth, these free patterns are perfect for building stock quickly while keeping costs low.
Now that I have a fair few markets under my belt, I thought I would share my top free market-friendly crochet patterns that have sold well for me, are quick to make, and are actually fun to crochet.
Most of these patterns can be made in under 30 minutes, making them ideal for market prep. For each pattern, I give you a breakdown of roughly how long it takes me to make them and how much I'd sell them for at markets. Bear in mind that your costs might be different to mine in terms of materials and how much time it takes yo uto crochet them!

The blog post below gives you the time and pricing breakdowns I use for each pattern too, and I've included my top three general market tips at the end of this post for you.
The patterns...
Itty Bitty Bunny (from @crochetmezaddy)🐇
Adorable, quick, and completely no-sew, these itty bitty bunnies take me under half an hour to make.
Try them in different colours for a nice variety of options at your stall! These cuties are especially great for Easter or spring-themed markets.
Time to make: 25-30 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $15
Mushy Pop Fidget Mushroom (from @cableandcanvas)🍄
These are consistently my best sellers at markets (check out this market wrap up to see how many I sold at the first event I took them to!).
Marketing these as silent fidget toys really caught people's eyes! Not only for kids to enjoy, but also for adults (and trust me, adults LOVE the 'silent' part of this fidget toy when getting them for children...)
Time to make: 30 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $18
Baby Whale (from @allfromjade) 🐋
These are the ABSOLUTE BEST for quick stock building. I put mine in the claw machine I take to markets which it such a drawcard for people checking out my stall.
Bonus tip: make them in grey with a dorsal fin for a quick and easy shark variation.
Time to make: 15 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $10
Chubby Mushrooms (from @chonky.crochet) 🍄
These chunky mushrooms add a cute cottagecore-vibe to your makes. They're also pretty easy to memorise after you've made them a few times, which makes them an awesome choice for batch-making your market stock.
I like to make a few different cap colours, then finish off all their bodies in one session!
Time to make: 35 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $20
Pickle (from @kouzikrafts) 🥒
I know it sounds silly but these picles honestly are such a fun make and they really draw people in! They look so funky and cute displayed in a big pickle jar on your table, it's a great conversation starter.
Time to make: 20-25 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $15
Queen Bee (from @moonbeamstitches) 🐝
This bee doesn’t require sewing on separate pieces – the wings are surface-crocheted afterwards and the antennae are crocheted as you go!
Honestly the worst thing for me about making bees is all the fiddl pieces to sew together, so this has becomemy go-to bee pattern any time I need to restock them.
Time to make: 30-35 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $20
Mini Stingray (from @chezdouxcoton) 🌊
This is a super speedy make and make a great keychain option for your markets due to their size. If you have a claw machine with a slightly larger opening, these are perfect additions
Time to make: 20 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $12
Caterpillar (from @jnkcrochet) 🐛
PALS, this is so hecking cute when it's all made up, trust me! I have made and sold a number of these in Very Hungry Caterpillar colours, but they also look adorale in other colourways. These take me about 45 minutes start to finish, so they're definitely market-friendly at a slightly higher price point.
Time to make: 45 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $30
Chubby Frog (from @meadowsage.crochet) 🐸
These frogs are not only quick to make, but their adorable feet make them stand out from the other frog patterns on the market.
I have tried SO MANY froggy patterns during my time at markets and I think I have settled on this as the winner 🏆
Time to make: 20 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $15
Mini Turtle (from @katrynas.creations) 🐢
This is my favourite turtle pattern (after testing many!). Haters will say it's actually a tortoise due to its lack of flippers and to that I say... look you're right but it's cute regardless so let's all just agree to ignore it and get back to crocheting.
Time to make: 20-25 minutes
Market price guide (AUD): $18

Other tips for crochet market success
Offer different price points: having a range of quick, affordable impulse buys alongside your bigger items will help people find something they love within their budget.
Try bundle deals: offering bundle deals can encourage multiple purchases. I do this for my coaster sets and scrunchies! Either a "Buy 2 get 1 free" or "$10 each or 3 for $25" style discounts can help improve sales.
Mix up your displays: Things like putting your pickles in a jar, or adding chickens to a basket display with yellow shredded paper as 'hay' has really helped me start conversations with potential customers at my markets. Mix it up and see what works!
Remember that markets can be unpredictable... your best seller at one market might not sell more than one or two items at another! Don't get discouraged if that's the case - luckily, crochet items don't expire 😉 The more markets you do, the more you'll figure out what's going to work for you, and what items are over-saturated already.
Let me know in the comments if you have any favourite free market patterns - I'd love to hear about them! I'd also love to know if you try these at your next craft fair.
Happy crafting and good luck at your next market!!!
